Places to Visit in Wales
About Me

Hello and welcome. Thanks for visitng my site. I think it may be worthwhile telling you a little something about myself...

My name is Derek and I was born in the City of Swansea, South Wales, UK in 1947. I have visited practically every part of Wales and am passionate about this "land of my fathers" of which there are many places for the tourist to visit. My intention with this site is to do the best I can to include more of the places that are less-known to the general tourist, some of which are way off the beaten track and tend not to be found in many guide books.

My Life In Brief:

I entered the music business as a pianist in my early twenties, and worked in local social and cabaret clubs around Wales that have long since closed - but most places in Wales still have a wonderful and varied nightlife.

With the advent of disco-tech in the mid 70s and the later use of "canned music" for cabaret artists, live musicians became less in demand, so I retrained as a Zen-based hypnotherapist in 1976, and have worked in my own practice until I recently semi-retired from practice to work more on the Internet.

In the mid 1990s, as part of my  convalescence from a serious bout of 'flu that had led to complications, I attended a writing workshop with Cardiff University. I enjoyed it so much that I continued attending these workshops until 1998, when a group of us formed our own writing circle that meets on a weekly basis to this day.  It was writing about Wales and the Welsh people that I enjoyed best of all and I was inspired me to create this site about places to visit in Wales which I hope readers will find inspiring enough to pay a visit to our beautiful land of Wales.
